On May 11, 2012, Dr. Joseph E. Lowery visited the office of Reverend Peter Johnson in Dallas, Texas. Both the Dr. Lowery and Rev. Peter Johnson were part of the Civil Rights Movement along with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Reverend Peter Johnson was the youngest person in staff to work with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery was the Co-Founder of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
It was a rather holly day at the Isenberg Center for Immigration Empowerment (ICIE) and perhaps the most powerful and memorable moments the ICIE staff has witness in the quest to help foreign nationals. Dr. Lowery personally apologized to Mrs. Delgado-Trejo and the Lopez children for “what my country has done to you”. This was a great photo opportunity as the image suggests. Dr. Lowery is visiting Dallas this weekend and pledge to share his experience of meeting the families of ICIE with others.
Mrs. Delgado-Trejo’s husband was arrested by ICE and has been in jail for more then 3 weeks. Mr. Delgado-Trejo was at home sleeping when the agents knocked on the door pretending to be police officers. They arrested Mr. Delgado-Trejo in fron of his 14 year old daughter. This had a very traumatic dramatic effect on the 14 year old who is in therapy as a result of what she witness. ICIE is still unclear to the reason he was detain. He had a DWI in 2011 but had been complying to his probation. ICIE agreed to pay a bond of $5,ooo to get him out but ICE is not cooperating.
In the Lopez matter, the mother was deported after yet another illegal search and entry. The ICE Agents said the were Dallas police officers that were looking for a fugitive. The agents told Mr. Lopez that they didn’t find the fugitive in the picture; the agent turned the picture around and Mrs. Lopez was on the back of the picture. She was deported while she was pregnant and all her children and husband are U.S. Citizens.
Ralph Isenberg, founder of ICIE said, “These two matters are just the tip of the iceberg. The ICIE staff will not stop working until ICE stops their cruel and unusual punishments of foreign nationals and their families.” ICIE is certain that the government will eventually jump in and put a stop to this.
