Susana 4
JJ Represented the Isenberg Center for Immigration Empowerment (ICIE) at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Headquarters when Susana was released. JJ was not emotionally prepared to witness a woman seeing freedom for the first time in almost 3 months. ICIE was pleased to assist this family and especially Stephanie, a daughter whose love freed her mom.

ICIE welcomed Susana back to Dallas at our office shortly after experiencing her freedom by being able to once again hug and kiss her husband and daughter outside of Dallas ICE headquarters. Every reunion with those we help is very emotional and today was no exception. The entire I-Team spent many hours working to secure the release of Susana and now that she is free we rejoice in her freedom but still keeping in mind that our work is never done. We do not thank ICE for we know if they had their way Susana would be in Mexico by now and not with her family. The exception to our feeling is James Smith of Dallas ICE ERO. We at ICIE know Mr. Smith as a man of honor operating in a world of wolves. The family of Susana Silva thanks Mr. Smith as well.

People come to ICIE as “a resort of last hope” because the system has failed, and as a result, someone is facing a wrongful deportation. Since our founding in 2011, ICIE has helped hundreds of deserving families, and provides all services pro bono. The organization deals with the entire family unit, from teaching the basic fundamentals behind community service, to English education, to individualized counseling to build positive mental health.
